Wow, August already… it is exciting to think that our new Bellydance tour “Club Bellydance” is right around the corner. First off I feel privileged to be touring with such a solid group of dancers. Sabah, Moria, Colleen and Victoria each have their own unique beautiful style and they bring so much to the stage. I know that we will be bringing out the best in each other. BDSS tours are always like a family, but in the previous tours we have been in groups of 13 plus so this time around I have a feeling that we will come together like never before. I really can’t say enough about theses dancers… they are fabulous but… I am sure you already know that.
With this new “Club Bellydance” tour I do feel like there is more pressure then before. I started with the BDSS in 2005 performing as chore company member and it was with the Bombay Bellywood tour that I was promoted to a principal position. I have only just started to get my feet wet as a soloist and with this tour, I feel as if it do or die. Please your audience, take them to that magical place with you or get off the stage.
When developing a dance the first thing to consider is the music choice. The piece of music has to dance it self out for you. It is most important for me to connect to the emotions in the song. I see from the schedule that this will be a power tour stopping in close to six cities a week. That means the music has to be so good and so beautiful that emotional connection is never lost even with night after night performance. Currently, I have a couple of pieces in mind but I will keep them a secret for now : )
Next, but I believe equally as important is the fashion. What costume, what color, what designer, what accessory???? This is one of my favorite parts of Oriental dance, the costuming. I like to work with designers to create something unique and in the vision for the dance peice. At the studio now I have an oh so yummy, pinkish~ nude watery material. I can hear it calling out to me “Stefanya enwrap me in your body, encrust me with jewels and let us dance together.” I guess this week I will be calling a couple of designers, asking prices and making a decision on who I will colaborate with. Don’t worry I will keep you posted on that as well. : )
Alright beautiful people time to put the computer down and get to work. This weeks goals is to narrow my music choices and get on some awesome ideas for costumes. I will let you know what comes of it all. Happy dancing to you and lots of belly love.

Lauren, Nathalie and myself had a wonderful time promoting the 3D DVD and our up coming show at the Alex Theatre Oct. 01 in Los Angeles. Bonus was making new friends with a nice camel named Saloman. Follow the link to watch out on air bit from KTLA, a Los Angeles morning news program.
